High School Musical 3: Senior Year

So rounding out the trilogy that’s up there with the Synder trilogy, here’s my thoughts on the 3rd movie:

The Good:

  • The opening was kinda cool

  • Feels like there was a bare minimum thought out into cinematography which was surprising

  • Lighting and editing were competent?!?

  • “I Want it All” is the best song in all 3 movies

  • Sharpay and Ryan still great

  • “I think he stopped breathing” “Well then give him the heimlich” great line

  • Conceptually having the music from throughout the film as the musical was very smart

  • Kelsi still the sweetest person in this

  • My Chad theory continues:

  • He immediately says he wants to play basketball to look cool in front of Troy but denies that he likes musicals- His initial proposal to Taylor is so small cause he doesn’t want to then he gets so nervous asking in front of the school but does it to keep his appearance of not loving Troy

  • The entire “Boys are Back” song

  • Taylor doesn’t value Gabriella’s relationship because she’s not satisfied with Chad

  • Chad picked out Troy’s tux

  • Chad says that they leave the girls behind in high school, isn’t upset about having to leave Taylor and says it’s going to be a different “ball” game with him and Troy in college

  • He gets upset that Troy won’t be going to the same college as him but then is happy knowing they’ll still see each other when competing against each other

The Bad:

  • Gabriella screaming Troy after he falls, I was howling
  • Kelsi didn’t learn any fashion sense :(
  • Worst way of asking someone to prom
  • “In every language, oui, si, ya, yes” AWFUL dialogue
  • Too many slow boring generic songs
  • The cgi basketballs were awful
  • “I love you Wildcat”, “You’re crazy Wildcat” who wrote these lines
  • How did no one notice Chad wasn’t there until they called his name?
  • Why is Sharpay redeemed at the end of all the movies?

The WTF:

  • Still why tf does the Dad have his office in the locker room
  • Juilliard and Troy?!? Yeah so believable with Zac Efron’s acting and singing
  • Troy and Chad are literal bullies in this
  • Ryan’s watch, it’s HUGE
  • Ryan and Kelsi hahahahhahahhahahahhahahaha ok sureeeee
  • WHY ARE THEY ALL DRINKING PINTS OF MILK AT DINNER?!?
  • What boring ass person’s favourite pizza is margarita... oh Gabriella ofc
  • The whole ending with the Juilliard people getting up and singing yeah that’s not believable
  • The British girl singing in British
